I hereby resolve (again)

So I failed miserably at all of my New Year's Resolutions last year.  In fact, after I hurt my foot and stopped running for a few months, I actually gained weight.  On the upside, however, I finished the year stronger than I began it.  In February I ran 78 miles before injuring my foot.  After months of being a wimp about it, I slowly began to put the left foot in front of the right, the right foot in front of the left (repeat(repeat(repeat))), etc...  In December I ran 82 miles.  2010 ended and I had run 448 miles.  Less than I had originally hoped, but far more than I expected once the foot went bad.

I may have mentioned this already, but back in October I decided that I wanted to finish a marathon before I turn 40 (less than 6 months away).  I am not certain why I want to do this to myself.  I have always enjoyed running, but until recently had never run more than 13 miles at one time (and that was five years ago).  Perhaps I am trying to finally achieve something.  I know, some folks will say that is silly, especially given the hard work that went into my getting my job, but that was just a means to an end.  This, well, this is a means to God only knows what!

Given my penchant for not carrying through on resolutions, I now have goals and dreams.

2010 Goals:  Finish a marathon before I turn 40, throw away anything with a waist size of 34 or larger, score better than 260 on my next PFT.  With any luck, I'll achieve these by the end of may and have to reconvene the Hopes and Dreams convention in late Spring.
