The Quest for the Perfect Marathon

And so begins another winter of sweating, trudging and freezing my way through the not-so-safe streets of greater Pyeongtaek and Osan-si, hammering and chiseling my flesh and muscle into a fine-tuned, marathon-running machine.

Last year I conquered the 26.2 miles at the Seoul International Marathon for the first time.  Not only did I finish the race, I can actually claim that I RAN a marathon.  The only stops I made were at aid stations so I would not choke on my water and snacks.  I even stomped through an ankle-deep puddle in the middle of the course, just because everyone else was trying to avoid it.

This year I am teaming with a group of runners here at Osan Air Base to raise money for the Knights of Heroes, a non-profit organization that provides mentorship and hope for the children of service members who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

$500 will allow one child to attend the summer camp that KOH runs.  I decided that my goal will be $2000--enough money to send four kids.  I can only hope that if my own kids were eligible for the program, someone else would try to raise enough money for all of them to go as well.

If you feel it in you, take a moment to go HERE.  Read about what KOH does, then feel free to empty you wallet!
